Peacemaker Second Season Last Episode to Address Significant Viewer Grievance, James Gunn Confirms
Although the reception for Peacemaker the latest season has been mostly favorable, with fans and critics praising the performances and storyline—even if the big twist in episode 7 wasn't exactly a shock—one critique has only grown stronger as the season continues: dwindling runtime lengths.
Over the past few episodes, audience members have voiced frustration over the noticeably shorter episode lengths this season, and it's true, the episodes have been getting shorter and shorter. Episode 7, called “Like a Keith in the Night,” ran just 28 minutes (excluding the summary, opening credits, and end credits), marking the briefest installment yet.
You'll be happy to know the upcoming finale is over 57 minutes long.
Series creator and DCU boss Gunn wrote via social media, responding to a disappointed fan.
Although this is encouraging, it remains unclear what portion of the runtime will be brand-new content, uncluttered by opening and ending sequences, or summaries of past episodes. However, even if the finale includes all the previously mentioned non-essential content, that would still allow for roughly three-quarters of an hour for the concluding episode, which is a big upgrade following the previous installment.
The director earlier hinted that the last episode would not only conclude Peacemaker but also provide clues towards the direction the greater DCU as a whole will be moving and act as a prequel of sorts for the next Superman movie. Considering the brief appearance of the actor's portrayal of Lex Luthor from the sixth installment, fans expect a exciting guest appearance to cap off the series.
Peacemaker's season conclusion, episode 8, is titled "The Full Nelson," and audiences must wait to find out if viewer theories are proven correct.
