Democratic lawmakers have made public a new tranche of what they described as "disturbing" photographs from the estate of adjudicated sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, featuring notably Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and ex-UK prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The initial drop of 19 images—a portion of which have been previously circulated—along with another 70 issued later on Friday account for a small number of the nearly 100,000 images handed over to the House oversight committee, which is looking into the conduct and connections of Epstein.
The shamed investor died by apparent suicide in a New York jail cell in 2019 after being indicted on sex-trafficking offenses.
Featured among the prominent personalities seen in the first release are celebrities featuring movie maker Woody Allen; Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates; and Richard Branson, originator of the Virgin business group.
Donald Trump is featured in three of the first nineteen images. In one, he is pictured with six women, whose faces are redacted.
The White House addressed the release in a official comment, alleging Democrats of selectively "cherry-picking" the pictures for political purposes and to "try and create a false narrative."
"This Democratic fabrication against President Trump has been consistently disproven," a presidential representative said, insisting that "the current government has done more for Epstein's survivors than Democrats ever have by repeatedly calling for transparency, disclosing thousands of pages of papers, and urging more inquiries into Epstein's Democrat friends."
The photographs were disclosed lacking captions, but per a California Democrat and ranking member of the oversight committee, they prompt further inquiries about Epstein's associations with affluent people.
"Now is the occasion to end this White House obfuscation and bring justice to the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and his influential associates," he stated in a release.
The publication of these materials coincides with the oversight committee pressing on with its investigation into the Epstein case.
